It covers two lakes and the marshes that lie in the gap between the district of Doğubayazıt and the mountain of Agri. This reed bed is also among the 100 most important bird areas in Turkey. The marsh is fed by streams from Fish Lake and the Tendürek Mountains. Common bird species in the area include meadow weasel, erguvani, fishworm, grey duck, rusthead, turna, patka, red-headed eagle, and red-headed eagle. Since the area is on the migration route of migratory birds, the diversity of bird numbers increases in spring and autumn.
