Didim is a peninsula bordered on the east by the province of Muğla, on the west and south by the Aegean Sea, on the north by Lake Bafa and the Menderes River, with a surface area of about 402 km2. Located within the boundaries of Aydin, Didim is an important tourist center 70 km from Kuşadası, 110 km from Bodrum. Located on one of the two peninsulas surrounding the Gulf of Guluk (the other is the Bodrum peninsula), Didim has dozens of bays, almost all of which are sandy, on a coastline of 90 kilometers. The most important of these bays is undoubtedly Altınkum, one of the world-famous beaches of the Aegean, which lies just in front of the hotel district.
Didim is one of the two regions in the world that is good for asthma because of the very low humidity in the air and its geographical location. Despite the fact that Didim has 90 km of coastline and is in a fairly warm climate zone, the low humidity makes it a good option for those who complain of overwhelming heat in the summer.
