From the Middle Ages
The Tokat Museum, one of the museums of the Republican Period, began its museum activities in 1926 in the Gökmedrese building, a medical madrassa belonging to the Anatolian Seljuk Period. As the number of works increased over the years, the warehouses began to become insufficient. Due to the need to preserve the works accumulated in the warehouses in healthier conditions, the need to exhibit the new works donated to the museum within the framework of the concept of contemporary museology and the need to restore the existing building, the Tokat Museum was moved to Arastalı Bedesten, an Ottoman structure located in the historic Sulusokak ⁇ in the city center, on March 3, 2012.
