Hasanboğuldu and the Pillar Falls
Hasanboğuldu and the Pillar Falls
The waterfalls, located near the district of Zeytinli in Edremit, are located at an altitude of 798 meters in the foothills of the Goose Mountains. Sütüven Waterfall, located among green olive trees, flows over the Kızılkeçili River, and the water of this waterfall, which flows down from a height of 17 meters, forms the Hasanboğuldu Lake. The Pillar Waterfall, located four kilometers from the Olive Village, is known to mean "springing" or "springing water". When you walk from the Pillar Falls to the Hasanboğuldu, you can see the columns of the water arches, which are known to be from Rome. We can say that the Hasanboğuldu Lake, which is the subject of legends, has also been featured in many films and stories. The most well-known of the three different stories of Hasanboğuldu Göleti begins with Emine, who lives in the village of Beyoba, and Hasan, who lives in the village of Ova, falling in love with each other at the market. Although these two young people love each other, Emine's family does not allow her to marry Hasan. When Hasan ⁇ grew up in the plain, they thought that he would not be able to cope with the conditions of the Yörük village, but they decided to test him anyway. They want him to carry a 80-pound bag of salt to the top of the Goose Mountains, five hours away. Emine goes ahead, Hasan goes behind, and Hasan only lasts a few kilometers. After a while, Emine notices that Hasan is not behind, and she sees that the note she gave him is in the water. Believing that Hasan had drowned, Emine could not bear the pain and hanged herself from a pine tree by the lake.
