Bozcaada is the third largest island in Turkey and the second largest in the Aegean Sea after Gökçeada. It is the second largest island in the Aegean Sea after Galilee. Bozcaada, a district of Çanakkale Province, is the only district in Turkey without a village. The island is 40 square kilometers and the distance to the mainland is 6 kilometers.

Because of its strategic location at the entrance of the Çanakkale Strait, Bozcaada has made its mark on history. After the break-up of the Roman Empire, Bozcaada was ruled by the Greeks, the Ionians, the Persians, and later the Romans, and remained within the borders of the Byzantine Empire.

Bozcaada, which was conquered along with Gökçeada in 1455 during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, was used as a base for the Ottoman fleet. Bozcaada was occupied by British and French forces in the Battle of Canakkale and used for logistical support.

Bozcaada was ceded to the Republic of Turkey by the Treaty of Lausanne signed on 24 July 1923. The Turks surrendered the island on 20 September of the same year.

The island is located within the boundaries of Çanakkale. The island can be reached by car ferry from Çanakkale ⁇ s Deer Belt. There are also sea bus services to the island from Çanakkale Merkez.

With its blue flag beaches and natural wonders, Bozcaada, one of the most sought-after summer resorts, can be reached by ferries that move every 15 minutes during the summer.
