ITU Science Center, the Science Festival organized by the Experimental Science Center Foundation in 1997 at ITU Taşkışla Building, exceeded its planned duration of 15 days and continued until March 31. Despite the agreement for the Istanbul Science Center project, the plan announced in 2000 with a budget of 30 million dollars could not be realized. With the contributions of ITU graduate civil engineer İzettin Silier, the first phase was completed with 57 demonstration units brought from India. Designer Yılmaz Zenger's optical illusion-themed units were also added. The Center was opened on November 7, 2007 by ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Faruk Karadoğan.
