One day in Siirt

With Anatolia to the west and the great Mesopotamian cultures to the south, Siirt is like a bridge between civilizations with a history of about twelve thousand years. In the early periods of its existence, Siirt is included in the Tel Halef and Al-Ubeyd cultures. First of all, the Sami started their civilization activities in this region by establishing small cities. Then came the Sumerians, the Akkadians, the Gutians, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, the Mitanni, and the Hurrians. Siirt had one of its most brilliant periods during the Medes. The city, which was captured by the Persians with Kyras, opened its doors to Alexander the Great and became one of the important monuments of Hellenistic culture. Subsequently, it caused a significant struggle between the Parthians and the Sassanids and Rome.
