Samatya, considered to be the oldest settlement on the historical peninsula, has a cosmopolitan structure. This neighborhood, where people of Armenian, Greek and Turkish origin still live together, is also home to the filming locations of many series and films such as Second Spring, Heart Wound. There is also a fish museum in Samatya, which is also famous for its fishermen because it is a coastal district.
Yedikule, which neighbors Samatya, is an old Greek neighborhood. The district of Yedikule, located on the coast of the Marmara Sea of the peninsula, takes its name from the seven towers of the walls of Istanbul that surround the historic peninsula. The most famous place to visit in the district, the Yedikule dungeons, although no longer in use, still retain that mystical air. These dungeons, which witnessed many punishments and executions, are the oldest open-air museum in Turkey.
