The Academy of Fine Arts and the Festina Lente Bridge
After the Austro-Hungarian invasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1878, the building of the Academy of Fine Arts was built in 1899 as the Evangelical Church. At the end of World War I, most of the evangelists left Sarajevo with the Austro-Hungarian army, and the church lost its function. In 1981, the city authorities restored the building and the Academy of Fine Arts was housed here. The bridge in front of the Academy of Fine Arts is called the Festina Lente Bridge. In Sarajevo, in the middle of Festina Lente, a pedestrian bridge over the Miljacka River, there is a loop that suggests slowing down and enjoying the scenery.
