The Bakshi Museum in Bayburt
The Bakshi Museum in Bayburt
The Bakshi Museum, which has the status of a private museum, combines a qualified collection of contemporary art with an extensive collection of folk paintings and original examples reflecting local handicrafts. The museum aims to create a unique center of cultural interaction for artists and researchers that brings together traditional arts with contemporary art, to be able to revive a cultural environment that has been shattered by intense migration and to contribute to the sustainability of cultural memory. The Bakshi Museum is located on a hill overlooking the Çoruh Valley, 45 kilometers outside Bayburt, in the eastern Black Sea. This unusual museum, formerly known as Baksı and now known as Bayraktar Village, houses contemporary art and traditional handicrafts side by side under the same roof.
