The Capitol Museum
The Capitol Museum
The Capitoline Museum, located in this city resembling Istanbul, is located on the Capitoline Hill between the Roman Forum and Campus Martius. It is seen as an important structure because it was located in a religious center during the Imperial Period.
This museum is touted as the first public museum in the world and operates in two very nice buildings designed by Michelangelo himself. Later, another building was added to it, and the number of buildings was increased to three.
Michelangelo's buildings have an interesting feature. The master positioned both buildings with his signature facing the Vatican instead of the Roman city center. This must have pleased the popes, who have been very generous with their donations.
The Capitoline Museum exhibits works from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. There are also artifacts from the Ancient Period.
