The castle of Niksar
The Castle of Niksar, originally built during the Kingdom of Pontus of Persian origin and known as Kaberia, has reached its present location with new buildings added in the Roman Period. When it was built, the walls that defined the acropolis area formed three separate lines as the inner, outer, and middle walls, like a typical Roman defensive plan. Strengthened against the influx from the south in the 7th and 9th centuries, the castle contains the remains of two baths, two mosques, a madrasa, a church and a prison.
