The cave of Ilgarini
The cave of Ilgarini
After the magnificent view of Chatak Canyon, you can continue your journey to Ilgarini Cave, the fourth deepest cave in the world. The cave can be reached by walking for one and a half to two hours from the village of Yaman in the district of Pınarbaşı. Although it is in a densely forested area, a recent hiking trail has made it even easier to reach the cave. The discovery of the remains of a Byzantine-era chapel inside the cave suggests that this cave may have been used as a monastery. There are also the remains of tombs along the way. The cave impresses its visitors with its mystical structure, but it also excites them with its size and depth. The cave is 250 meters deep, with many natural slopes and ditches. The entrance mouth is 22 meters wide and 30 meters high. There are many restaurants where you can eat local food in Pınarbaşı County, which is also home to Ilgarini Cave. After a lunch break here, you can continue your route through Horma Canyon and Ilıca Falls.
