The Longos of the Acars

One of the most beautiful subasar forests in the world, Acarlar Longozu is the largest subasar forest in Turkey after Igneada and a first-class natural SIT area. Lake Acar in Sakarya, about 6 km from the mouth of the Sakarya River to the Black Sea. It's in the west. It's about a mile from the coastline. Inside and parallel to the shore, the lake covers an area of about 1,560 hectares. That's 560 acres. The lake has a lagoon character with a wetland-swamp feature covered by a fairly dense forest and vegetation. The lake is also home to very rich animal species. You can walk along the lake's one-kilometer-long wooden trail that runs along the shore. Admission is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children under 7, free of charge.
