Milli Kütüphane bu binalar arasında yer alıyor. 1912'den bu yana hizmet veren kütüphanenin adında milli geçiyor olmasına rağmen aslında bir dernek bünyesinde hizmet veriyor. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün emri ile meclis kararı alınarak "Milli Kütüphane" olarak kullanılmasına izin veriliyor. Kütüphanenin tasarımı Mimar Tahsin Sermet'e ait. Bugün kütüphanede 1,5 milyon kitap bulunuyor. Kütüphanenin arşivinden faydalanabilir, çalışma salonlarını kullanabilirsiniz.

Oldukca sessiz ve ic mekanin guzelligiyle sizi calismaya tesvik edecek bir kutuphane. Giris icin sadece kimlik vermeniz yeterli, herhangi bir uyelik vs gerekmiyor. Saat 8.30’da aciliyor fakat 9.30’dan sonra yer bulmak neredeyse imkansiz olabilir, gelisinizi buna gore ayarlamanizi tavsiye ederim. Bolca priz var, bazi masalarda lamba da var. Kitap odunc alma sistemi yok. Internet sitelerinden istediginiz kitaplari bulmaniz, sonra da kucuk bir form doldurup gorevliye vermeniz gerek. Gorevlinin getirdigi kitaplardan da sadece kutuphane sinirlari icerisinde yararlanabilirsiniz.

1912 yılında günümüze olarak hizmet veren bina 1933 tarihlidir. İki katlı yapı İzmir’in simge yapılarındandır. Türkiye'nin ilk Milli Kütüphanesi'dir. İki katlı ve içi oldukça güzeldir. İkinci katına çıkılamıyor ama, girişi ziyaret edebiliyorsunuz. Kapıdaki görevli ilgili ve yardımseverdir. Ders çalışanları rahatsız etmemek için içinin fotoğrafını çekemedim.

Motifi, dekorları ve kitap kokusu ile çok güzel bir kütüphanemiz. Ayrıca ders çalışmak isteyen kişiler için de sakin bir ortam. 15 dakikada bir çalan antika saat de ortama ayrı bir güzellik katıyor.❤️
