The peak and the tomb of Sarıkız
The peak and the tomb of Sarıkız
The Sarıkız Tomb is located on Sarıkız Hill, the highest point of the Goose Mountains. There is a shrine and a statue on Sarkiz Hill, which is 1,726 meters above sea level. Let's mention that many legends have been told about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. According to a legend, Sarıkız lives with his father. When her father goes on pilgrimage, the men in the village bid for Yellow Rose. When she doesn't accept any of the men, they gossip behind her back. When her father, returning from the pilgrimage, hears the news, he takes Yellow Rose to the top of the Goose Mountains to kill her. But he can't kill it himself, so he leaves it there for the animals to eat. Years later, visitors who lost their way on their way back to the village say they found their way with the help of a yellow girl with geese. Hearing this story, the father, thinking it was his own daughter, climbs to the top and finds her on this hill, now called Sarikiz. Her father asks for water from Yellow Rose, and she reaches out to the bay and fills the bowl with water. So the father knows that his daughter is melted. That's when a black cloud falls on Yellow Rose and she disappears. His father, on the other hand, throws himself into the hills and loses his life in what is now called Babadaghi. The people of the place built tombs for Sarikiz and her father, and they named the hill where Sarikiz was buried Sarikiz Hill, and the hill where her father was buried Baba Hill. To this day, people still climb this hill to commemorate the Yellow Rose and make wishes.
