Colonia Güell is actually an old workers' town located 20 kilometers outside of Barcelona. The town, which for years was nothing more than a suburban settlement, is developing at a great pace at the beginning of the 20th century. At the turn of the century, it's developing at a tremendous rate. As a result of this development, Eusebi Güell, a member of the royal family of the time, commissioned Antoni Gaudi to build a church in this growing town. However, Gaudi dies before completing this church.
