Kurucaşile is one of the three districts of Bart's province, along with Amasra and Ulus. It is a district located on the Black Sea coast, 52 km from the city center of Bartyn.

The area was first inhabited by the Pala and Kashkas who lived during the Hittite period, and later by the Phoenicians, Carians, and Acadians. In 306 BC, the Kromna civilization was located in Tekkeönü, about 8 km from the district center of Kurucaşile. Kromna is an ancient city founded on the coast of the Black Sea in the Paphlagonian region of Anatolia.

In the Luwian and Hittite languages of Kromna, the word "Kromna" is derived from the root "kro", which is a variation of the word "snow", meaning "head", and the person takes the adjective "umna" in the folk sense. It can be translated to mean "three people".

It is one of our ancient cities, mentioned in the Iliad and sharing the same fate as Amasra in the Paphlagonia region. The old settlement center is known as Tekkeönü Village. Tekkeönü and Kapısuyu, which are fishing villages in Kurucaşile, are the land of shipyards that meet the needs of the Ottoman Navy. Today, he maintains this reputation by making wooden yachts and boats, which have been handed down from father to son.
