Located in the Western Black Sea Region, Bartyn Province is surrounded by the Black Sea to the north with a coastline of 59 km, Kastamonu to the east, Karabük to the east and south, and Zonguldak to the west. Bartin is surrounded by mountains to the east, west and north with an altitude of no more than 2000 m. The mountains are not high, but they are quite steep, steep and rocky towards the coast. The source of the name, which changed from "Parthenia" to "Bartyn", is "Parthenios".
