Kaleici is a neighborhood in Antalya where you can feel like you belong to another time when you walk through Hadrian's Gate. Surrounded by walls overlooking the sea, the first thing you notice is the shape of the horseshoe. Although some of the horseshoe-shaped walls, both inside and outside, have collapsed, they give visitors a sense of Antalya's deep-rooted past. There are more than 3,000 houses located on narrow and winding streets. Although these houses, which are domed and usually two-storied, are still inhabited, the vast majority serve tourists as restaurants, cafes and guesthouses. Walking through these historic streets is as much a pleasure as watching the view from above. The Kaleiçi Panoramic Elevator, built in 2014, facilitates access to and from the port and offers a magnificent view from the upper floor. Another advantage is that the elevator rides are free.
