Rumkale, which came under Ottoman rule after the Battle of Mercidabık in 1516, was attached to the Aleppo Governorate. The monuments that can be visited in Rumkale today are: the Castle, the Church of Saint Nerses, the ruins of the Barşavma Monastery.
