The mystery of when and by whom Gaziantep Castle was built continues to be preserved. The castle owes its present form to the Byzantine Emperor Justinian and is estimated to have been built in the 6th century BC. It is estimated to have been built in the 20th century. The mound where the castle is located is estimated to date back 6,000 years. Located in the Shahinbey district of Gaziantep, the castle is located on a hill about 30 meters high and is built partly on the edge of the Alleben River. The castle was renovated in the early 2000s and gained its present appearance. With special lighting, the castle offers a unique view at night. Around the castle, which is located at the oldest point of the city, there was a city called Theban in the past, and this city was built in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. And it's thought to have been built in the 3rd century. It's thought to have been built over centuries.
