Mersine giderken yol üstü uğradık. Antik kentin içine girilmiyor yandaki yoldan dışarıdan bakılıyor. Çok güzel sütunlar var ancak başka bir şey yok. Bir antik kent göreyim diyorsanız başka bir yer tercih etmenizi öneririm.

Sit alanında 41 adet dev sütun var. Yol boyunca uzanan bu sütunların deprem öncesi toplam sayısının 200 olduğu tahmin ediliyor. Bu sütunlardan 33 tanesi Korint tipi başlığa sahipler ve çok heybetliler. Ayrıca bu alanda bir hamam ve su kemeri kalıntısı da bulunur. Kalıntıların çitlerle çevrilip koruma altına alınması bence de gerekli. Tarihi eserlere en azından isimlerini yazarak hatta kazıyarak zarar veren çok insan var. Bu konudaki uyarıların da yetersiz kaldığını üzülerek görüyoruz.

Şu an sadece sütunları görülebilen Romalılar döneminde yapılmış olan liman kenti. Mezitli de ana yola da oldukça yakın sahil tarafında ücretsiz otopark mevcut. Biraz ilerideki Mezitli yazısının arkasında limanın deniz içinde kalmış kalıntıları da bulunuyor. Ayrıca oldukça büyük park alanı var. Denize yüzmeye, balık tutmaya gelen oldukça fazla insan var.

Eski bir liman kenti kalıntısı. Ücretsiz. Yanına yürüyüş yolu yapılmış. Yol üzeri sayılacak bir yer uğrayıp görmeye değer. Hatta Mersin Arkeoloji Müzesinde bu sütunlar ile binaların nasıl göründüğünü gösteren bir animasyon mevcut. Arkeoloji müzesine de uğramanızı öneririm.
