The girl's castle
Kızkalesi, an important tourist center of Erdemli, is 23 km from Erdemli and 60 km from Mersin. In 1448 it was conquered and rebuilt by Ibrahim Bey of Karamanoğlu. Kızkalesi, which fell into the hands of the Ottomans in 1471, began to lose its importance during this period. Cem Sultan stayed here for a while before boarding the ship sent by the Knights of Rhodes in 1482. In the fortresses of Kızkalesi, named after the historical structure Kız Kalesi, castles, churches, arches, water arches, rock tombs, tombs, stone-paved roads are found. The castle, built on a small island 500 meters off the coast of the castle, is called Kızkalesi. The Girl's Castle, which has been restored in recent years, is protected by eight towers. The outer perimeter of the castle is 192 meters long.
