Mimari bir başyapıt. Cami ve ona bitişik bir hastaneden oluşmaktadır. Yapılar, mimari özelliklerinin yanı sıra, sergilediği zengin Anadolu geleneksel taş işçiliği örnekleriyle UNESCO Dünya Miras Listesi'nde yer almaktadır. Taşın sanata dönüştüğü, taşa hayat verilmiş bir eser. İşlemelerde kullanılan motiflerin öyküleri, binanın kullanımı konularını bir rehberden dinlediğinizde yapıya daha da hayran kalıyorsunuz. Mutlaka görülmesi gereken bir eser.

Tarihini bilmeyen geleceğe yön veremez. Atatürk'ün cok güzel bir sözüdür. Burayı kesinlikle rehber eşliğinde gezmelisiniz orada görevli olan Mustafa bey var çok duygulu anlatıyor mutlaka dinleyin ondan. Her bir işlemenin anlamını öğrenince hayatı biraz daha sorgulayarak yaşamaya basliycaksiniz. 600 gün sonra restorasyon bitecekmis inşallah o zaman içini de görmek nasip olur.

İnanılmaz muhteşem bir yapı. Böyle bir yapının varlığından haberim olmadığı için kendimden utandım kesinlikle daha fazla araştıracağım. Bu kadar ayrıntılı ve düzgün işçilik olan, içerisinde matematik, tıp, din, astronomi gibi onlarca dalı kapsayan bir yapı. Keşke içini de görebilme şansımız olsaydı. Böyle bir yapıyı görüp hayran kalmamak elde değil. Böyle bir yapıyı görüp üzerine hala yazı yazabilenler için diyebilecek sözüm yok. Sadece bu yapı için olsa bile Divriği’ye gidilmeli ve görülmeli.

Süleyman şahın oğlu Ahmed şah tarafından 1228-1229 yıllarında yapımına başlanmış. Darüşşifasını da Ahmed şahın eşi Melike Turan Melek yaptırmıştır. Bu cami de insanlar su ve Kur'an sesiyle tedavi ediliyormuş. Şuanda cami restore ediliyor. Umarım yakında biter ve tekrar görürüz. 3 kapısı bulunmaktadır ve her kapısında esrarengiz motifler ve bu motiflerin çok önemli anlamları bulunuyor. Taç kapı cennet kapısı ve batı kapısı.

Mükemmel bir tarihî eser. Keşke restorasyonu bitmiş olsaydı. Gittiğimizde yıllardır devam eden restorasyon çalışması nedeniyle etrafı iskele ile çevriliydi.
