Uzaktan bakınca bir çırpıda ulaşılabilecek kadar yakın görünen ancak esasen oldukça yüksek ve geniş bir dağdır. Bulunduğu bölge oldukça geniş olduğu için çok uzaklardan, örneğin Kırşehir'den dahi görebilmek mümkündür.

Hasan dağı 3268 metre zirvesiyle volkanik bir dağ olan Hasan Dağı, heybetli duruşuyla dört mevsim zirve tutkunlarını kendisine çekiyor. Dağa tırmanış yapmak için Aksaray üzerinden Helvadere Kasabası'na ulaşıp, dağ eteğinde kamp kurarak farklı parkurlar üzerinden zirve tırmanışı yapılabilir. Hasan Dağı, nereden zirve çıkışı yapacağınızı bilirseniz en güvenli zirve yürüyüşü yapılacak dağlardan birisidir. Otel yönünden veya dağ evinden çıkış yapmak uygundur ancak güvenli ve rahat bir parkur için en iyi seçenek dağ evinden çıkış yapılmasıdır. Ortalama 6 saatte zirvesine ulaşılan Hasan Dağı'na zirve tırmanışı yapmak için dağ evi parkurunu kullananlar ilk olarak Süt Kilisesi ile karşılaşırlar. Buradan vadi içinde küçük bir yürüyüşün ardından dağın sırt kısmına çıkılır ve keçi yolu takip edilerek zirve yürüyüşüne devam edilir. Parkurda ilerlerken, artık ayaklarınızın altında uçsuz bucaksız bir arazi ve Erciyes, Ekecik dağları ile Tuz Gölü kendisini gösterir.
