The Museum of Aromatic Plants of Antioch
The Museum of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, which was opened with the aim of introducing the rich flora of the city of Hatay to visitors, was established with the aim of exhibiting alternative plants in addition to modern medicine. The structure, which covers an area of 215 square meters, was used for many different purposes before being converted into a museum. Located in the Martyrs' Quarter, this 100-year-old building has been converted into a museum by the restoration of an old Antioch House with a total of 12 rooms. In the museum, which first opened in 2013, you can reach the panels in the open exhibition hall by climbing the stairs to the top floor. In total, there are close-ups and names of 280 different species of plants. With over 2 thousand endemic plants, Hatay meets 20% of Turkey's medicinal plant needs and speaks volumes about its name. Tasting events with medicinal plants can also be held from time to time.
