The Vuk and Dositej Museum, located in a building with Ottoman architectural features dating from 1808, is an important place established during the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire, for the revival of Serbian culture. Founded in 1949, this museum presents the life, work and legacy of the reformer of the Serbian language Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and the writer Dositej Obradović, who was the country's first Minister of Education.
