It was founded on the city of Arsemia, the summer capital of the Kingdom of Commagene. Most of the information about the Kingdom of Commagene has been obtained by translating the inscriptions here. The stone sculpture of Mithridates Kalinikos, the founder of the Kingdom of Commagene, shaking hands with Hercules is one of the most remarkable. Today, within the boundaries of Mount Nemrut National Park, this weaving site bears witness to history with its palace, castle walls, mosaic remains, and two caves carved by human hands. Admission is free, but visiting hours are as follows: Summer Period (April 15 - October 2) 10:00 - 19:00, Winter Period (October 2 - April 15) 08:00 - Sunset.
