The rock houses of Seben
The rock houses of Seben
Seben Rock Houses is a settlement in Seben County, Bolu, consisting of a large number of houses carved into the rocks at close distances from each other. The most important of these are located in the villages of Alpagut, Muslar Mahallesi, Çeltikdere, Karca, Solaklar and Kaşbıyıklar. Among the places to visit around Bolu is the settlement of the Seben Rock Houses, where red painted cross marks are found; in some houses there are applications such as a chapel, a rally pit; suggesting that the Seben Rock Houses may have been used from the Early Christian Period to the Middle Byzantine Period. For this reason, Bolu is included among the historical sites. In the area of Seben Rock Houses there are mountain house-type accommodation facilities and a restaurant operated by the Municipality of Seben.
