The district has a mountainous and rocky structure. It is 76 km away from Trabzon province. The county seat is 280 m above sea level and 25 km inland. It is located in the valley that extends from the district of Of to the province of Bayburt.
The district got its name "Chaikara" from the "Chaikara Water" that comes out of the rocks near the confluence of the Left and Green streams.
In terms of tourism, the district has a fortunate position compared to other districts of Trabzon due to the Taşkıran and Uzungöl districts located within its borders.
You will find 440 species of plants in the area, and you will marvel at its forests, plateaus, green spaces, and wildlife. When you come to Chaikara, you can visit the Haldizen Plateau, the Sultan Murat Plateau, the Uzungöl Mosque, the Garaster Plateau, the Haldizen Valley and the Sherah Village.
