Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The structure, which is an Orthodox church, is the only Byzantine church that was not converted into a mosque after the conquest of Istanbul. This church, which is also remarkable for its red color, was the scene of very violent clashes during the Conquest and blood flowed from the hill on which it is located. That's why it's called the Bloody Church. The church, whose construction dates back to the 7th century, is currently not open to the public. The century-old church is currently closed to the public.
