The ancient city, located on the shores of Lake Bafa, is 45 km from the center of Didim. According to the information obtained from the works of Strabo, the city is located at a distance of 30 km from the city of Söke. It is known to have been founded by the son of the King of Athens, Codros. It is estimated that the city was abandoned over time due to the abundance of flies along with mud from the river and the fact that it was a poor city. The city's heyday was in the 5th century BC, when it was part of the Athenian-Delos Maritime Union. In the 20th century, it was part of the Athenian-Delos Maritime Union. The first excavations began in 1908, but there are not enough remains and information to date.
