The Fountain of Trajan

Trajan's Fountain There are large statues on the terrace of the fountain, which was built in honor of the Roman Emperor Trajan and Artemis of Ephesus. Today, some of these statues are on display in the Museum of Ephesus and others in the British Museum. The columns of the fountain are still standing. Ephesus is located within the ancient city.

The Fountain of Trajan, one of the most important structures of the ancient city of Ephesus, was built by Tiberius Claudius Aristion and his wife M. The S. It was built between 102 and 114 AD in honor of Artemis of Ephesus and Emperor Trajan. Life in Ephesus ended after the earthquakes and Sassanid floods of the 600s A.D. when mosquito-borne malaria, the fate of port cities, could not be adequately prevented.

The isolated area has become the focus of shepherds and treasure hunters. With the beginning of the first excavations in 1869, the finds from the excavations began to be exhibited in the museum. With the restoration works, an attempt has been made to raise it to its present height; the original height of the structure is 9.5 m. A two-story façade surrounds the three sides of the fountain, above the place where the water is poured, in the middle, under the feet of the earth, the base of the statue of Traianus is seen.
The fountain surrounds a large pool on three sides, and in the part where the water flows there is a statue of Emperor Trajan. There were not only statues of the Emperor, but many statues in the Trajan's Fountain. Most of the sculptures are now on display in the Museum of Ephesus. One of the most striking remains of the ancient city of Ephesus is the Street of the Curetes. This ancient settlement with its important ruins will take you to a different time period.

The findings from the Trajan's Fountain are on display in the museum. But it cannot be ignored that many of the historical artifacts found in the area were smuggled to Europe before the excavations began. The first archaeological excavations at Ephesus were conducted on behalf of the British Museum by J. It's T. It was started by Wood in 1869.

Harika bir atmosfer. Çok beğendim ama giderken yaz ayı ise güneş kremi ,şapka ve su almayı unutmayın birde bazı taşlar çok kaygan kaymayan ayakkabı tercih etmenizi öneririm.

Efes antik kenti içinde bulunan anıtsal çeşme imparator Trojan a adanmıştır. Kötü bir restorasyon geçirmiş olsa da hala muhteşemdir.
