Harran, M. The S. In 639 AD, the Caliph Islam came to dominate in the time of Omar. In the Islamic era, Harran was ruled by the last caliph during the reign of the Umayyads, Caliph II. It was the capital for a while in the time of Marvan. The Great Mosque or Paradise Mosque, one of the major works of the Islamic Revolution, is located on the northeastern slope of Mount Harran. The eastern facade of the mosque preserves the altar, the shrine and a large part of the minaret. The Harran Grand Mosque, the oldest mosque built in Islamic architecture in Turkey, was built by M. The S. Between 744 and 750, during the reign of the Umayyads, Caliph II. It was built by Marvan and later underwent repairs at various times. The Grand Mosque is 104x107 meters. The wooden stairs of the minaret, which have disappeared over time, have been reconstructed in accordance with the original 105 steps.
