The open-air museum of Koçbaşlı in Karakoyun
Koçbaşlı tombstones are a tombstone culture that can be seen in all old cemeteries in Iğdır. These tombstones, which are also exhibited in the "Karakoyunlu Open-Air Museum" located in Karakoyunlu County, 15 kilometers from the city center of Igdir, are usually erected in the name of historical heroes, brave men who died at a young age and influential people. On the stones there are scrolls, pictures of tools and objects found on the statues of goats and sheep, and various figures. In ancient Turkish societies, the ram was a symbol of fertility, power, lordship, and dominion, but it was also considered a symbol of migration, so the ram figure was placed on the graves of those who migrated from this world.
