The Armor Power Plant, the first city-scale electricity of the Ottoman Empire, provided electricity to the city from 1914 to 1983. The Energy Museum, Turkey's first museum of industrial archaeology, which was created by preserving and transforming the old machine rooms, and was awarded the "DASA award" by the European Museum Academy in 2012; the "International Architecture Awards 2010" award-winning Main Gallery building, where contemporary art exhibitions and cultural events are held; the design award-winning dining and drinking spaces and buildings of the Istanbul Bilgi University, which emerged as a result of the conversion of the repair shop and warehouse buildings of the old power plant. The exhibitions at the power plant and the Energy Museum are open to the public free of charge on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:30. Private guided tours are as follows. Adults: TL 25,00 University students: TL 15,00 Special guided tours must be booked in advance.
