Gülhane Parkı Sarnıcı, İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzeleri’nin kuzeyindedir. Sarnıç, Padişah Mehmet Reşat’ın 16 Ekim 1912 tarihinde verdiği izinle İstanbul Şehremini Dr. Cemil Topuzlu tarafından Gülhane Parkı’nın halka açık bir parka dönüştürüldüğü 1913 yılında tespit edilmiştir. Gülhane Parkı Sarnıcı, uzun bir dönem akvaryum olarak hizmet vermiş olup; yapı akvaryum haline getirilirken ziyaretçi girişi için yapının içine merdiven eklenmiş ve ışıklandırma için zemine metal plakalar yerleştirilip sütunlara demir kelepçeler takılmıştır. Uzun yıllardır atıl durumda kalan Gülhane Sarnıcı’nda, özgün dokusunu ortaya çıkaran İBB Miras ekipleri Çağdaş bir aydınlatma sistemiyle sarnıcın iç mekânını, söyleşiler, dinletiler gibi farklı etkinliklere ev sahipliği yapacak düzenlemelerle kültür-sanat dünyasına açmıştır. İstanbul’un en özel buluşma alanlarından olan Gülhane Parkı’nda bulunan Gülhane Parkı Sarnıcı’nda, değişik sanatçı ların heykelleri sergilenmektedir. Bundan yaklaşık 1350 yıl önce, Bizans döneminde İmparator Hadrian tarafından yaptırılan Gülhane Parkı Sarnıcı, 1913 yılında parkta yapılan kazılar ile yeniden keşfedilmiş. Sarnıcın üzerinde daha önceden bir manastır bulunuyormuş, ancak günümüze saadece bazı kalıntıları ulaşabilmiş. Sarnıcında bu manastır için su kaynağı olarak kullanıldığı düşünülüyormuş. 1954 ila 2001 yıllarına kadar sarnıç Gülhane Hayvanat Bahçesinin bir parçası olarak nadir balıkların sergilendiği bir akvaryum olarak kullanılmış. Hayvanat bahçesinin kapanmasıyla işlevsiz hale gelen sarnıç ise günümüzde restore edilerek bir sergi müzesi haline getirilmiş. Görece küçük olan sarnıç 12 mermer sütundan oluşuyor, 7 metre tavan yüksekliğine, 17 metreye 12 metre genişlik ölçülerine sahip. Giriş ücretsiz, Gülhane parkına geldiyseniz kesinlikle bir uğramadan gitmeyin derim. Oldukça serin olması çok güzel olmuş, sıcak bir yaz gününde tam serinlemelik.

Gülhane parkı içinde bulunan küçük bir sarnıç. Giriş ücretsiz,pazartesi günleri kapalı 12 mermer sütunlu sarnıç, güzel bir restorasyon görmüş,aydınlatması güzel. İst. Büyük şehir Belediyesince Gülhane Sanat merkezine dönüştürülmüş. Sanatçıların yaptığı güzel eserler teşhir ediliyor. Görmenizi tavsiye ederim.

Gülhanede görülmeye değer en güzel yerlerden biri. Ücretsiz giriş. Kimsenin pek bilmediği bu nedenle ziyaretçi sayısının az olduğu bir yer. Kesinlikle görülmeye değer etkileyici bir Bizans dönemi eseri.
