The Lighthouse Rum Boys High School
After the conquest of Istanbul, Byzantine rulers and merchants left the city. Fatih Sultan Mehmet later issued a decree calling those who had left the city back to the city and promising to build them a patriarchy and a school. That's when some of the executives came back. According to the agreement between Patriarch Gennadios and the Fatih Sultan, a school was established within the boundaries of the Lighthouse in 1454. The Ottomans provided extensive facilities for this educational institution. The school, which trained many administrators, chief translators, patricians and clergymen, was named the Lantern Rum Boys' High School after the republic. This high school is still in operation today.
