When the Chilean lighthouse was built in 1859, it had the distinction of being the most magnificent lighthouse in the world, one of the two that provided coastal security in the Black Sea. In the early days, the lighthouse was powered by 3 wick gas lamps, but in 1968 it was powered by electricity. The lighthouse is now used as a museum. The museum is open every day except Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visits are available between 12:00 and 16:00. It can be visited between 00:00 and 00:00.
