The ancient name of the Green Dawn is ASEPSUS. It was later named ARTAMEA because of its hot springs. Gönen, which had been in the hands of the Byzantines for years, was ruled by the Turks by Sultan Orhan Gazi in 1334, that is, hundreds of years before. Seyyah Evliya Çelebi records that Gönen was the page city of Mihaliç of the Kings of Bursa, and that the city consisted of well-kept, red-tiled buildings. In fact, it is known that the Kings of Bursa come to Gönen in the summer to spend their holidays and are injured by the healing waters. The artifacts, inscriptions, and sculptures excavated at Gönen show that the site was a very old historical settlement. Alexander the Great, who went on an expedition to Iran, built the Alexander Bridge in M. Oh, my God. He had it built in 400 AD. The remains of Alacaoluk and Babakaya Fortresses are also important historical artifacts. Within the limits of the spa there is a museum of mosaics from the Byzantine period.
