The Martyrdom of Emet Cevizdere
The Martyrdom of Emet Cevizdere
This Martyrdom was built in 1985 in memory of the martyrs and veterans who inflicted heavy casualties on the Greek soldier under the command of Captain Rauf in Cevizder in 1922. Emet was occupied by the Greeks on August 14, 1921, and the Nationalists of Emetli Kuva attacked this headquarters one night to get rid of the Greeks. The fire was so immediate and effective that the enemy didn't even have a chance to get their machine guns off the mule's back. Only 20 to 25 of the Greek battalion survived. The returning veterans then retreated to the mountains with the residents. Wanting to take revenge for this raid, the enemy, with troops brought from Kutahya and Rabbit, entered Emet and burned Emet to the ground so that there was not a single house left for revenge.
