The Nif Palace, located at the entrance to Kemalpaşa, has become a symbol of the district. The palace was built during the Byzantine period, II. It was built by Thedodorus Laskaris between 1206 and 1222. It is one of the few palaces built outside Istanbul during the Byzantine period. Known to have been used as a summer palace, the palace continued to be used during the Ottoman period.

İstanbul haricinde yapılan ilk bizans sarayı olduğunu öğrendim. Bir benzeri istanbulda inşaa edilmiş. Acil restorasyon yapılıp turizme kazandırılması lazım. Daha önce içerisine yapılan çelik konstrüksiyon binayı koruma altına almak için yapılmış ancak kemalpaşanın rüzgarına dayanamamış. Şu anki görüntü çok kötü. Keşke hiç yapılmasaydı dedirtiryor. Böyle eserlere ne zaman sahip çıkacağız bakalım. Ayrıca etrafı da çok bakımsız.

Laskaris Sarayı'na bir türlü hak ettiği ilgiyi gösteremediler... Kemalpaşa tarih turizmi yapılabilecek bir ilçe olmasına rağmen ilçenin göbeğinde yer alan böyle bir tarihi yapının bu halde olması çok ilginç...
