The town of Birgi, which was added to the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2012, is also home to historical structures such as the Great Mosque and the Çakırağa Manor. Settled by the Phrygians, the Lydians, the Persians, the Pergamans, the Romans, and finally the Ottomans, the town still preserves its historical fabric. A town worth seeing, Birgi, with its historic houses in original architecture made of wood and stone, as well as majestic pine trees and mosques bearing traces of Ottoman architecture. When you go to Birgi, you can sit and drink tea at the Historical Square Coffee, buy organic products from the market set up in the square, visit the Imam Birgivi Mausoleum, Çakırağa Manor, Aydınnoğlu Mehmet Bey Mosque, Dervişaga Mosque and Sandıkoğlu Manor, one of the oldest mosques in Ege.
