The Bath of the Sophists
The Bath of the Sophists
The bath, named after the Mosque of the Sophs, was built by Sultan II. It was built by Bayezid in order to bring revenue to his headquarters in Edirne. The bath, which burned in the Cibali fire in its original state in 1833, is still in use today.
The women's and men's sections of the bath, which serves many domestic and foreign customers, are separate and have different entrances. The bath has been restored to its original state. The atmosphere is still appropriate for the Ottoman bathing culture. In the bathing section, the navel-shaped, historic pillars, bags, foam and washing sections still retain their originality today.
Hot and cold drinks are served in the bathroom. You can go to the bath at any time and you don't need a reservation. However, due to the seasonal density of potential domestic and foreign customers, it is recommended to contact and make an appointment. You can experience the bath culture, which rests your whole body and muscles and is good for many ailments, in the Bath of the Sophs and you can visit it between 08:00 and 21:00 in the morning.
