It is located on a hill 1 km south of the village of Karagöbek to prevent a danger that could come to Erzurum from the valley through which the Tortum and Oltu roads pass, also called the Georgian Strait. Built between 1884 and 1896, it was built with black basalt stones on a steep hill on an area of 50×25 square meters. The I. Since the Karagobek Battalion was the first target of the Russians who wanted to enter Erzurum through the Georgian Strait, which was protected by the Karagobek and Tafta (Shahap Pasha) Battalions in the World War, the battalion suffered heavy damage in the reports.
