The gates of Istanbul

The gates are called Stambol Gate because they overlook the road to Istanbul. The Outer Istanbul Gate is located on the side of the main entrance to the castle. Where there used to be a wooden bridge, there is now a dirt road. The Inner Istanbul Gate is another gate in Belgrade Castle and passes as the Inner Istanbul Gate. This gate was built as a whole with the surrounding walls. It is connected to the Clock Gate in the inner walls by a wooden bridge. The Istanbul Gate was once built in the form of a wooden bridge. In 1750, the cutting stone was renewed. Inside the gate today there is an art gallery, a gift shop and an old crafts workshop. Around the gates are the Military Museum, the Natural Museum, the open-air theater stage.
