The most famous square in Belgrade was built in the first half of the 19th century. In the first half of the 20th century, Belgrade's most famous square was built. Prince Miloš Obrenović wanted Serbian craftsmen, especially blacksmiths and coppersmiths, to be removed from the regions where they lived alongside the Turkish population. He ordered them to build their houses and shops on the site of today's Terazije. The name Terazije is of Turkish origin. The Turks, who brought water to Belgrade, used a system of scales to bring water to different places. Because of this water scale system of the Turks, it was called Terazije. Today, the Terazije fountain is located on the site of this system. This fountain was built in 1860 in memory of Prince Miloš. In the years 1911-1912 there were significant changes for Terazije.
