The Nebojša Tower, located next to the Danube River, is one of the sights of Belgrade. In addition to being the best-preserved tower, the Nebojša Tower is quite large.
The Nebojša Tower was built around 1460 as a cannon tower to defend the entrance to the port of the Lower City in Belgrade Castle. This tower, which is also among the historical sites of Belgrade, showed the need to defend Belgrade when the Ottomans conquered the Nebojša Tower in 1521.
The Nebojša Tower has an octagonal plan. When it was first built, it was about 22 meters high and its interior covered four floors of wood. On each floor of the tower, five or six openings for cannons have been preserved. At the end of the 18th century, the Nebojša Tower was completely renovated. At the end of the century, the Nebojša Tower was completely renovated. After this time, the Tower was used as a prison and was restored in 2010 in cooperation with the Greek government. After the restoration, the tower became a cultural center.
