The Baysher Lake
The Baysher Lake
It is located in the Lake District and is the largest freshwater lake in the country. It is within the borders of the provinces of Ionia and Sparta. Lake Beyşehir, which has a special place in our lakes with its wildlife, natural beauty and historical values, is one of the most beautiful lakes in our country with its beautiful, blue color, large small islands, beaches, karst caves and intact vegetation. The southern and northern shores of the lake are shallow, with a maximum depth of 10 meters. The main species of fish found in the lake are the leopard, the velvet, the vulture, and the mirrored leopard. Lake Beyşehir offers unique opportunities for bird watching. In terms of climatic characteristics, the lake area is a transition between the Mediterranean and Inner Anatolian climates. Since the lake surface is partially or completely frozen in winter, it is not a good wintering area for birds. However, in September and October, ducks, geese, swallows, storks, storks, and seagulls form groups of more than ten thousand. With the addition of storks and geese, the total bird population in the lake exceeds fifty thousand by the end of October. Due to their relative remoteness from hunting pressure and human activities, the islands are important as feeding and breeding grounds for blackbirds, fishers, gulls, and predators. The first known breeding colonies of the Hill Pelican were identified on the islands of Lake Beyşehir. Yeşildağ Mahallesi, 30 km from Beyşehir, also provides a special nesting area for otters.
